ITALY OFICIALLY RECOGNISES ITALIAN SIGN LANGUAGE

This Thursday, May 20th, Italian Republic has approved the official recognition of Italian Sign Language (ISL).

Time to celebrate and we congratulate Italian deafblind and deaf people who has been fighting for long time to achieve this great step.

The recognition of the language seems a little step, but in fact it is very important and it opens the door to a better advocacy of the rights of these collective.

Currently, in Europe, only Switzerland is missing so that all member States have formally recognised their respective sign languages.

We hope they soon follow the steps from the rest and we could celebrate also their recognition and enjoy a more accessible Europe.
