This coming weekend, 21st, 22nd and 23rd of September, the II National Meeting of Deafblind Women of FASOCIDE (Federation of Association of Deafblind People of Spain) will take place in Toledo.
Toledo will welcome 20 Deafblind women from different autonomous regions, such as: Región de Murcia, Comunidad Valenciana, Comunidad de Madrid, Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León.
The Deafblind women will be able to enjoy the great cultural alternatives that the city has to offer such as a scheduled visit to the Real Alcázar of Toledo, to the Sephardic Museum, which has accesible features for the visually and hearing impaired, and attend a gender workshop, among other activities. Furthermore, an aroma workshop and a wine and local marzipan tasting have been programmed.
This second meeting will take place thanks to the agreement between the State Secretariat for Social Services and FASOCIDE. In addition, these 20 Deafblind women will be supported by a team of 10 professional interpreters for Deafblind people who will ensure the accessibility to all the programmed activities this weekend.
The most important aim of this meeting organised by the Deafblind Women Committee is to give visibility to the Deafblind women collective. In that way, it is essential to provide them with a place where they can meet together in order to build personal bonds and to give them cultural and training experiences which can broaden their horizons.
