Today like every year, January 4th, FASOCIDE joins the celebration of the Braille International Day. This year there is an important update: the UN has officially recognized the celebration of this International Day on such date as today, the date that the birth of its creator, Louis Braille, is commemorated.
It is a very important step on the recognition of one of the systems used by Blind and Deafblind people, which provides us with accessibility and allows us to know the environment that surrounds us and the access to information. This recognition by the UN represents an advance in the relevance of this system of reading and writing worldwide.
We would like to thank to all the entities which struggled for so many years for the recognition of the Braille System, since access to information is one of the fundamental rights for Blind and Deafblind people.
